Some of you who are playing "Labyrinths of Astoria" may be experiencing sudden mid-game crashes. I am too, so I decided to run an experiment to find the root of the problem.
For my experiment, I tried running the applicaton on my brother's iPad which is running ios 8.6 (1GB of free data) and my own which was running ios 10 and was later updated to ios 10.4 (5GB of free data). I discovered that the application crashed when I ran it on ios 10+, but worked smoothly on ios 8.6, so in other words the application seems to have an ios 10+ compatibility issue.
Unfortunately, I went on a route-buying spree as soon as this app was released and haven't been able to play any of the routes properly, because they crash on my iPad and my brother has work to do on his iPad, so I'm giving you ios 10+ guys a prior warning so you don't end up like me.
Thank you for the warning :)
ReplyDeleteI am having trouble myself because I am playing on my Ipod touch 5 generation and the app either crashes or exit before I could finished a story. I have tried all of the customer help tips but they are not working... I know MANY people are having the same problem and just wish that they would fix this problem. I do not have any problem with other voltage games so why am I having problems now? I hope they fix this soon other wise I would lose more faith in USA voltage team.
Happy to help.
DeleteWell, it's the same for me, the Voltage Inc. applications are working just fine, but "Labyrinth of Astoria" isn't.
Honestly, in regards to your question, I only know that the application works fine on the older operating system (i.e. ios 8.6), but not ios 10+. However, the other thing I noticed whilst running the application on these three operating systems was that the application was lagging more and the text transition was slower in ios 10 and ios 10.4. In contrast to those 2 operating systems, ios 8.6 where it ran smoothly and the text transition was faster.
I'm not a software, ios or computer specialist, so I may be wrong, but from this information I would have to surmise that Voltage Entertainment USA Inc.'s "Labyrinth of Astoria" application may be using larger files for gameplay than your average Voltage Inc. games. This is after considering the fact that they have quite a few animations during particular fight scenes during gameplay which would typically have a larger file size than your average still image character sprites that are present in past Voltage Inc. and Voltage Entertainment USA, Inc. games. As a result of these larger file sizes and the lag time on ios 10+, I believe the operating system cannot handle running the data after a while and crashes, but like I said I'm not an I.T. specialist so I may be wrong.
